"C" SESSIONS - MORNING & AFTERNOON (10:45am - 2:30pm)

C01 Emotion Focused School Support and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Presenter: Colleen McCutcheon
Target Audience: Anxiety/behaviour program Teachers and anxiety/behaviour program YCWs
The primary goals of Emotion Focused School Support (EFSS) are to focus on return to learning, preventing emotional escalations, and deescalating outbursts in progress.  EFSS teaches skills to: Improve relationships with students; manage classroom stress, behaviours and emotions; and work through and resolve stressors. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a collection of mindfulness based skills to provide individuals with tools to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and improve interpersonal effectiveness. This training is a brief introduction to EFSS and DBT and is being offered to teachers and youth care workers working primarily in school based Behaviour and Anxiety programs.

C02 Microsoft Excel: Level 2
Presenter: On-Track Corporate Training
Target Audience: All Employees
This course provides a thorough exploration of the intermediate-to-advanced features in Excel that helps users perform more sophisticated data analysis, calculations, and formatting. Learn how to manage multiple worksheets/workbooks, intermediate formulas/functions, advanced formatting techniques, creating charts.

C03 CPI REFRESHER (Non-violent Crisis Intervention)
Presenter: Manveer Phagura
Target Audience: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) provides your staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations. Staff with current valid certification are eligible for the Refresher Session. If your certificate has expired, you must take the full course. Valid CPI certification entails having received training within the last 2 years. Contact mysafety@abbyschools.ca if you need information about CPI certification status.

C04 Caregiver compassion fatigue

C05 Communicating across cultures

Target Audience: All Staff
This workshop aims to increase participant awareness of cross-cultural communication challenges and opportunities across a broad spectrum of cultures to assist them in their development of global business competencies.

C06 Emotional intelligence
Presenter: LifeWorks Learning
Target Audience: All Staff
In this workshop, participants will learn about the connection between their brain, their emotions, and their behaviours. Employees will uncover the tools and techniques to improve upon all five interpersonal and intrapersonal components of their emotional intelligence, strengthening their workplace performance, behaviour, and relations with others.

C07 Máthxwi Curriculum Project – Field Trip
Presenter: Lisa Wolgram and Michael Blackburn – Education Researchers and Curriculum Developers at Alongside Research and Consulting
Target Audience: Secondary School Teachers
The Máthxwi Curriculum Project is a collaborative effort between Máthxwi First Nation, the University of the Fraser Valley Teacher Education Department, and Alongside Research and Consulting. Secondary teachers are invited to take part in a day of learning to explore aspects of the English Composition 10 and Social Studies 10 components of the curriculum. This professional learning experience will take place at the Pro-D Day site from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, and then will meet at Aldergrove Regional Park for 1:30 pm. Participants will be responsible for transportation to and from Aldergrove Regional Park.
