Superintendent's Message
The Shared Learning Conference has been a fixture in our district for the past 20 years. The conference was originally established as an opportunity for staff from around the district to share their successful practice with colleagues in a myriad of curricular areas. During our first year, over 400 participants attended. Since that time, the conference has grown tremendously and has become a part of our district's very fabric.
As we navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's conference will be different. All learning opportunities will be provided virtually, requiring us to come together while staying apart. Recognizing the profound impact the pandemic has had on all of our lives, we are incorporating sessions focused on health, wellbeing, and resilience - along with our standard educational and operational sessions. Our keynote speaker, Monique Gray Smith, will talk about the importance of including Indigenous worldviews and perspectives into our schools.
I extend a heartfelt thanks to the Conference Planning Committee members who invest considerable time in making this conference successful every year. Through its many iterations, one thing has remained unchanged about the Shared Learning Conference: It stands as a hallmark of the excellence in our District that binds us together in the learning enterprise. I hope you all enjoy the experience with friends and colleagues.
